OJK Maluku Launches Inclusive Financial Ecosystem Programme in Buru
Ambon (ANTARA) - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) of Maluku Province has launched the Inclusive Financial Ecosystem Synergy Programme (EKI) at the Merah Putih Fishing Village (KNMP), Waelihang Village, Buru Regency, to expand access for coastal communities to formal financial services.
“Through the EKI and KNMP programmes, financial service institutions are bringing themselves closer to the people of Waelihang Village through financial education and business matching,” said the Head of the OJK Maluku Office, Haramain Billady, in Ambon on Wednesday.
The programme features a collaboration between OJK, financial service institutions, and stakeholders in Buru Regency to strengthen access to capital, savings culture, social protection, and financial literacy for fishing communities.
“This activity provides an opportunity for the community to recognise and utilise various financial services according to their needs,” he added.
OJK Maluku stated that financial inclusion for fishing communities is not only related to access to financial products and services but also opens opportunities to develop businesses and manage finances more effectively.
The synergy between OJK, financial service institutions, and coastal communities is expected to strengthen the inclusive financial ecosystem in Waelihang Village.
“Access to formal financial services is also expected to support the community in developing economic activities sustainably,” he further noted.
Through the education and mentoring provided within the programme, fishing communities are expected to gain a better understanding of the benefits of formal financial services while being able to manage their finances and grow their businesses as required.
