The Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi, stated that the authority has made strengthening the ecosystem and financing of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) a core programme. “We provide a lot of support for MSMEs and we direct the entire industry to support MSMEs in Indonesia. This is in line with the message of the President (Prabowo Subianto), who strongly supports the financial services sector in showing partiality and support for MSMEs in Indonesia,” she said at the UMKM Finance Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday.

One form of support provided by the OJK is the Financial Information Service System (SLIK), which records and displays loans or financing with an accumulated value above IDR 1 million to advance and develop MSMEs. According to her, a major challenge that needs to be addressed in the MSME sector is encouraging entrepreneurs to have financial reports, given that only 3.51 percent of these businesses possess cash flow information. If MSMEs have financial reports, she said, the sector can connect with banks and thus obtain funding.

Other forms of support for developing the MSME ecosystem by the OJK include providing access to financing through the implementation of OJK Regulation Number 19 of 2025, which simplifies the financing process for MSMEs, and building a stronger funding foundation through information systems, strengthening credit information infrastructure, utilising alternative data, and MSME segmentation and profiling. Through the presence of OJK offices and more than 500 Regional Financial Access Acceleration Teams across all regencies and cities, the authority supports MSMEs by creating programmes such as business matching forums curated by local governments.

“Indeed, one of the obstacles is that usually only less than 30 percent of those who enter these forums meet the criteria to be financed. There might be issues with their SLIK records and so on (so they do not get funding from banks). Therefore, OJK provides a lot of support, one of which is through the SLIK update,” she said, who is familiarly called Kiki. On that occasion, she also emphasised the urgency of protecting consumers by eradicating illegal online loans (pinjol), as many MSME actors obtain funding through illegal channels. “We must work together to ensure that our fellow MSME owners use the correct path to the legal, formal, and clear financial services sector,” said the Chairperson of the OJK Board of Commissioners.
