OJK Kediri encourages students to save through 'Kejar' programme
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) in Kediri, in collaboration with the Trenggalek Regency Government, is encouraging a culture of saving from an early age among students through the ‘One Student One Account’ (Kejar) education programme and the ‘Sangu Sampah’ initiative.
Head of OJK Kediri Ismirani Saputri said that account ownership for students is expected not merely to serve as a means of recognising and utilising financial services, but also to build the habit of saving and managing finances wisely from an early age.
“Symbolically, Student Savings (SimPel) accounts were opened for participants in the activity. I hope these accounts are not just opened, but are genuinely used and become a place to save the proceeds from the Sangu Sampah collected,” Ismirani said in a statement in Kediri on Thursday.
Ismirani explained that during the commemoration of Indonesia Savings Day (HIM) 2026, themed ‘Weaving the Future through Financial Literacy and Inclusion’ at GOR Gajah Putih in Trenggalek, OJK has a programme synergising the One Student One Account (Kejar) programme and the Sangu Sampah programme.
According to her, the synergy combining financial education and environmental awareness can serve as an example that financial literacy can be developed through activities close to students’ daily lives.
Trenggalek Regent Mochamad Nur Arifin also appreciated the collaboration of various parties in promoting financial literacy and inclusion among students.
“Indonesia Savings Day is not merely an annual agenda, but a momentum to build the habit of managing finances from an early age as a foundation for a stronger and more independent future,” he said.
During the activity, students received education on the importance of building a saving culture, managing finances from an early age, security in using financial services, and the benefits of having student savings, delivered through various interactive and educational competitions.
The Trenggalek Regency Government also presented awards to nine top schools for their participation in the Sangu Sampah Programme. In addition, a Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Certificate (SPE-GRK) of 12 tonnes CO2e was handed over to PT BPR Jwalita Trenggalek (Perseroda).
The HIM 2026 activity was organised by OJK Kediri together with the Trenggalek Regency Government, the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), and PT BPR Jwalita Trenggalek (Perseroda), and was attended by 853 junior and senior high school students from across Trenggalek Regency.
OJK Kediri, together with the Trenggalek Regency Government and related parties, hopes that the synergy between KEJAR and Sangu Sampah can shape a young generation that is smart and wise in managing finances, cares about the environment, and is able to prepare for an independent and sustainable future.
