The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has responded to the government’s plan to establish an Indonesian International Financial Centre (PFII). Chair of the OJK Board of Commissioners Friderica Widyasari views the formation of the PFII as an effort to strengthen the national financial sector and Indonesia’s position within the international financial ecosystem. “Of course, this is also aimed at attracting investment and deepening the financial market,” Friderica stated during a monthly board of commissioners press conference on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. The OJK believes that fresh funds entering the PFII could benefit the national economy, provided that the stability of the national financial system is maintained. However, the PFII Bill is still currently being deliberated. Friderica noted that the substance of the law will be conveyed to the public once it is finalised. During a meeting with the government, Chair of Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) Mukhamad Misbakhun stated that the discussion of the PFII Bill is targeted for completion before the current DPR sitting period ends on 22 July 2026. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, representing the government at the meeting, explained that the establishment of the PFII is necessary to create a special zone that can accommodate the needs of the global business and financial services industry.
