OJK Has Received Two Packages of BEI Director Candidates, But Still Keeping Names Secret
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has received two packages of candidates for the board of directors of PT Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), even though the registration period is still ongoing until the deadline of 4 May 2026.
The Executive Head of the Capital Market, Derivatives Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervisory Division of OJK, Hasan Fawzi, stated that his agency is currently conducting an initial evaluation of the administrative completeness of the submitted candidate packages.
The nomination process for BEI directors is part of the preparations for the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) scheduled to take place at the end of June 2026.
In accordance with the provisions, nominations for directors must be submitted no later than 4 May 2026.
The number of candidate packages received so far totals two, but OJK will not officially announce the composition or details until the entire administrative process is complete.
“There are already packages that have been submitted. We are of course carrying out the initial process of evaluating the completeness of administrative requirements,” he explained.
After the administrative verification stage is completed, the BEI director selection process will proceed to the assessment of capability and propriety, which includes aspects of competence, experience, and integrity of the candidates.
“Later, once they pass administratively, there will certainly be administrative completeness that we must ensure first. Then we will proceed to the process of assessing the capability and competence of the individuals concerned,” Hasan elaborated.
He reiterated that he cannot yet announce in detail the composition of the candidate packages for BEI leadership because the examination of document completeness is still ongoing.
This is to avoid releasing non-final information, considering that nominators still have the opportunity to complete requirements or adjust the candidate composition.
“Not yet, we must handle the administration first. It would be unfortunate if there turns out to be an administrative deficiency later, and they might still change the composition. If announced and then it turns out some need to complete it, it wouldn’t look good,” Hasan emphasised.
OJK also stressed the importance of the role of nominators, whether groups of shareholders or exchange members, in ensuring from the outset that all administrative documents are complete, and that the nominated candidates possess adequate competence and integrity.
“But in principle, all nominators in this case—groups of shareholders or exchange member nominators—must ensure administrative completeness from the start, as well as the capability, competence, and integrity of the candidates they nominate,” he continued.
Hasan mentioned that OJK has also formed a selection committee to handle the BEI director nomination process.
In addition, the committee has been formed for two other parallel processes, namely the nomination of directors for PT Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KPEI) and the nomination of commissioners for PT Central Securities Depository Indonesia (KSEI).
“We have formed selection committees for the three aforementioned processes, both for the nomination of BEI directors, the nomination of KPEI directors, and also the nomination of KSEI commissioners,” Hasan explained.
