Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has formed the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange Preparation and Supervision Task Force (Satgas BMKS) within the authority to prepare the regulatory and supervisory framework for the sector, including its supporting infrastructure.

OJK Board of Commissioners Chairperson Friderica Widyasari Dewi, speaking at a press conference on the results of the monthly board meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday, explained that the supporting infrastructure covers the organisation and readiness of human resources.

In addition, the preparations encompass the drafting of regulations, budgeting, the development of business processes, information technology development, and various other supporting facilities.

Friderica also assured that the authority would communicate further developments regarding the overall process of preparing the mineral and strategic commodities exchange.

The formation of Satgas BMKS follows the mandate of Law No. 4 of 2026 on the Amendment to Law No. 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK Law).

Under the law, OJK has been given additional duties to supervise and regulate the mineral and strategic commodities exchange.

As stipulated in the P2SK Law, the mineral and strategic commodities exchange is to be established and begin operating on 1 January 2027, coinciding with the start of OJK’s duties and authority to regulate and supervise transactions on the exchange.
