JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) along with the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) have secured a suspect in the case of an alleged banking criminal offence at PT BPR DCN, Malang, East Java. The suspect had previously failed to comply with examination summonses from OJK investigators.

The apprehension was carried out by a joint team. The team consisted of OJK investigators, the Supervisory Coordinator for Civil Servant Investigators from Bareskrim Polri, and the Cyber Crime Directorate of the East Java Provincial Police on 9–10 March 2026.

Monitoring results indicated that the suspect was moving from Surabaya to Jakarta. The suspect was then secured upon arrival at Gambir Station.

The joint team also brought in a witness who had failed to attend examination summonses. This step was taken to support the investigation process.

“This action represents an enforcement of the law conducted through coordination between OJK investigators and the Indonesian National Police,” stated the Head of the Department of Financial Literacy, Inclusion, and Communication at OJK, M. Ismail Riyadi, in a press release on Thursday (26/3/2026).

According to Ismail, the coercive measures were undertaken by the Supervisory Coordinator for Civil Servant Investigators from Bareskrim Polri at the request of OJK investigators. This step complies with applicable laws and regulations.

“This also reflects the strengthening of coordination between institutions to support the investigation of criminal offences in the financial services sector,” he explained.

This coordination is deemed essential to bolster law enforcement in the financial services sector. The efforts are also aimed at preserving public confidence in the banking industry.
