OJK Closes One Bank in Jakarta, Here's Why
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revoked the operating licence of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Koperindo Jaya in accordance with OJK Commissioners’ Council Member Decision Number KEP-22/D.03/2026 dated 9 March 2026 concerning the revocation of the operating licence of PT BPR Koperindo Jaya, located at Wisma Techking 2 Ground Floor, Jalan AM Sangaji Number 24, Petojo Utara, Central Jakarta.
The revocation of the operating licence for PT BPR Koperindo Jaya is part of OJK’s supervisory action to continuously maintain and strengthen the banking industry whilst safeguarding public trust.
On 22 January 2025, OJK designated PT BPR Koperindo Jaya as a bank under the status of Rural Bank Under Rehabilitation (BDP) based on the consideration that its Capital Adequacy Ratio (KPMM) fell below the required threshold (negative 35.49%) and its Health Rating (TKS) carried a “Unhealthy” rating.
Subsequently, on 21 January 2026, OJK designated PT BPR Koperindo Jaya as a bank under the status of Rural Bank Under Resolution (BDR) based on the consideration that OJK had granted sufficient time to the bank’s management and shareholders to undertake rehabilitation efforts, including addressing capital adequacy issues as stipulated in OJK Regulation Number 28 of 2023 dated 29 December 2023 concerning the Designation of Status and Follow-up Supervision of Rural Banks and Sharia Rural Banks. However, the bank’s management and shareholders were unable to rehabilitate the institution.
Based on the Decision of the Commissioners’ Council Member for the Deposit Insurance and Bank Resolution Programme Number 20/ADK3/2026 dated 3 March 2026 concerning the Handling Approach for Bank Under Resolution PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Koperindo Jaya, the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) decided on the handling approach for the Bank Under Resolution by conducting bank liquidation and requesting that OJK revoke the operating licence of the rural bank.
In response to the LPS request and pursuant to Article 19 of the aforementioned OJK Regulation, OJK has revoked the operating licence of PT BPR Koperindo Jaya. With this licence revocation, LPS will carry out its deposit insurance function and conduct the liquidation process in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation, as amended by Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector.
OJK appeals to the customers of PT BPR Koperindo Jaya to remain calm as customer funds in banking institutions, including rural banks, are guaranteed by LPS in accordance with applicable provisions.
