OJK Chief Reveals Evidence of Indonesia's Resilient Capital Market as It Turns 49
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revealed that Indonesia’s capital market has proven resilient in the face of various challenges, as the country commemorates the 49th anniversary of its reactivation.
Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said the development of Indonesia’s capital market over nearly five decades has shown significant progress. According to her, Indonesia’s capital market infrastructure is now on par with that of other countries, and in some aspects is considered more advanced.
“I see that Indonesia’s capital market infrastructure is not inferior to other capital market infrastructures. In fact, in certain areas we are far more advanced, such as the existence of the SID and so on. This is extraordinary,” said Friderica, who is often called Kiki, in her remarks at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) building in Jakarta on Monday (10/8/2026).
She highlighted the growth of Single Investor Identification (SID), which has reached more than 30.27 million investors. This figure shows a very rapid increase, as in less than eight months this year the number of new SIDs has grown by almost 50%.
“Of course, this figure reflects not just a number, not just growth in the number of investors, but the meaning behind it is that there is trust, there is confidence, and there is hope among the Indonesian public towards the Indonesian capital market,” said Kiki.
For this reason, the OJK, together with the Self-Regulatory Organizations (SROs) and all capital market stakeholders, continues to strive to maintain the integrity of the industry. This step is considered important to maintain investor confidence, which has been the foundation of the national capital market’s growth.
In addition to the investor side, Kiki also highlighted the strong fundraising performance in the capital market throughout the current year. To date, the value of funds raised through the capital market has exceeded Rp123 trillion from 135 public offerings.
The number of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) also continues to grow. Currently, the number of issuers listed on the IDX has reached more than 962 companies.
According to Kiki, these achievements were made amid global dynamics that remain challenging. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and global economic uncertainty have not been able to hinder the growth of the domestic financial market and economy.
