OJK Chief Reveals 27 Million Investors in Indonesia's Capital Market, 54% Gen Z
Yogyakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Chair of the OJK Board of Commissioners, told CNBC Indonesia that the majority of investors in Indonesia’s capital market currently come from Generation Z (Gen Z). She made the remarks at Jogja Financial Festival 2026 at the Jogja Expo Center in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, on Friday, 22 May 2026. ‘Do you know that out of 27 million investors in the capital market, 54% are Gen Z. This is also extraordinary. They are aged under 30. This is contextual for you all,’ she said. According to Kiki, Gen Z is now colouring Indonesia’s financial sector. They are also the first generation to grow up in a digital world. ‘This is amazing,’ Kiki said. She further urged Gen Z to be adept at filtering information, as not all information circulating on social media is true. ‘So your ability to sift and select information will determine your future. Especially contents that are not good, not healthy, not educational, do not need to be viewed or listened to,’ she said.
