OJK Chief Pushes for Three-Day SLIK Clearance, Making Credit Easier to Obtain
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is pushing financial institutions to accelerate the update of loan repayment statuses in the Financial Information Service System (SLIK) from 1.5 months to just three days. OJK Board of Commissioners Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi stated that the public will be declared as having settled their obligations in the OJK SLIK system within three days of making a payment. This rule will take effect on 1 July 2026. “This is a lot of feedback from consumers where, when they apply for credit even though their previous credit has been settled, they have to wait one month or one and a half months before there is clearance that their credit is paid off. Now, the information must be available within three days,” said Friderica, who is often called Kiki, at the OJK Office in Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2026). The acceleration is part of improvements to the credit information infrastructure through SLIK. This step aims to increase the quality and targeted distribution of credit and financing to the public while maintaining financial sector stability. In addition to accelerating the update of repayment data, the OJK is also implementing a nominal threshold of Rp1 million for debtor information in SLIK. This means that individuals with non-performing loans below Rp1 million in the OJK SLIK can still apply for a mortgage. “The availability of more current, accurate, and relevant debtor information will certainly help financial institutions in distributing housing finance and subsidised mortgages more quickly and prudently, including in the context of the 3 Million Houses programme,” Kiki explained. This is ultimately expected to encourage the expansion of credit and financing access for eligible members of the public, including low-income communities, MSMEs, and groups that have previously had limited access to formal financial services.
