Jakarta — The Acting Head of the OJK’s Capital Market Supervision, Derivative Finance, and Carbon Exchange division, Hasan Fawzi, has disclosed the criteria for the board of directors at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) needed ahead of the end of their term in 2026.

The current board of commissioners and directors of BEI will complete their tenure this year. The names of the new directors will be decided at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) in June.

Hasan explained that the BEI board structure consists of seven members with different competency standards according to their respective fields. Each position requires specialised expertise relevant to the functions performed in exchange operations.

“For the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), naturally someone with visionary thinking, strategic approach, strong leadership, and so forth. Then each person heading a division. For instance, there is trading, so naturally an expert in trading mechanisms and administration,” Hasan said when met by journalists at the DPR RI Building on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Regarding the selection process, Hasan stated that the selection mechanism begins with shareholders who screen the best candidates to be submitted to OJK. Subsequently, OJK will conduct fit and proper testing against these candidates.

He assessed that the current mechanism for selecting board directors and commissioners at the exchange is sufficiently robust. The layered screening process is expected to produce the best candidates who will lead BEI forward.

To date, OJK has not yet received a package of board director candidates from the supporting shareholders. Hasan estimated that such submissions would only be made as the deadline approaches before the AGMS is held.
