OJK Blocks 11 Illegal Pawnshops: Here Is the List
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK), through its Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas PASTI), recorded that it had dealt with 330 illegal financial entities and activities, as well as scam schemes, between August and September. It also ordered 11 illegal pawnshop operators to cease their business activities.
According to an official statement, the measures are intended to strengthen public protection by taking action against illegal pawnshops. They form part of efforts to enforce Law No. 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (UU P2SK).
Under Article 319 of the law, pawnshop businesses must meet licensing requirements by 12 January 2026 at the latest. Satgas PASTI urged the public to be alert to illegal pawnshop activities that could cause losses, including through high interest charges, unclear agreements and inadequate protection for consumers’ pledged goods.
The measures also include efforts to speed up responses to financial transaction scams through the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC). Since it began operating and up to 30 September 2026, the centre had blocked 702,833 accounts linked to scams, freezing a total of Rp825.2 billion and returning Rp207.16 billion to victims.
