The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has confirmed that revisions to the business targets of People’s Economy Banks (BPR) and Sharia People’s Economy Banks (BPRS) will continue to contribute to national economic growth. The target adjustments are seen as an adaptive measure amidst global and domestic economic dynamics that remain fraught with uncertainty. Chief Executive of Banking Supervision at OJK, Dian Ediana Rae, stated that the revision of the Bank Business Plans (RBB) submitted by a number of BPRs and BPRS is a normal occurrence in line with evolving economic conditions. ‘There are BPRs and BPRS that have raised their targets to be more optimistic. However, there are also BPRs and BPRS that have changed their targets to be more conservative as a step to adjust to the current global and domestic economic conditions, which are still full of uncertainty,’ Dian said during a press conference on the results of the Monthly Board of Commissioners Meeting (RDKB) on Tuesday (4/8/2026). Dian explained that BPRs and BPRS have the scope to revise their Bank Business Plans if certain conditions affect their business projections. Factors forming the basis for target changes include significant deviations between targets and performance realisation, changes in macroeconomic conditions that have a material impact, and changes in business strategy or the bank’s internal conditions. According to him, the magnitude of each bank’s target revision is also influenced by a number of economic indicators, such as the benchmark interest rate, credit demand, liquidity conditions, and the performance achievements of each bank up to June 2026. Despite the target adjustments, the OJK assesses that the business direction of the BPR and BPRS industry remains on a path that supports economic growth, particularly in the regions. In addition to monitoring business targets, the OJK continues to encourage the strengthening of the capital structure of the BPR and BPRS industry through the fulfilment of Minimum Core Capital (MIM) provisions. Dian revealed that the number of BPRs and BPRS that have met the minimum core capital requirements continues to increase. ‘The number of BPRs and BPRS that have fulfilled the MIM provisions continues to rise, reaching more than 86 per cent of the total BPRs and BPRS as of the June 2026 position,’ he said. This increase is considered a positive indicator in strengthening the resilience of the regional-scale banking industry.
