OJK Approves Two Regional Pawnbrokers for National Expansion
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has approved the expansion of business scope from provincial to national level for two pawnbroking companies, PT Gadai Sakti Jakarta and PT Gadai Mas Nusantara. “With this approval, PT Gadai Sakti Jakarta and PT Gadai Mas Nusantara can now conduct pawnbroking activities throughout the Republic of Indonesia, while continuing to observe and comply with applicable laws and regulations as well as good governance principles,” said Agus Firmansyah, Head of the OJK’s Integrated Financial Services Sector Surveillance and Policy Department, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. The approval for PT Gadai Sakti Jakarta was granted through OJK Letter Number S-43/PL.02/2026 dated 7 May 2026, after the company fulfilled the requirements and completed the licensing documents in accordance with OJK Regulation (POJK) Number 39 of 2024 concerning Pawnbroking. OJK had previously granted similar approval for the expansion of business scope to PT Gadai Mas Nusantara. The authority stated that this expansion is expected to increase the business capacity of both companies, broaden the reach of legal pawnbroking services, and improve public access to financing across various regions. This initiative aligns with OJK’s efforts to strengthen the pawnbroking industry by promoting scale, good governance, and access to safe and trustworthy financial services throughout Indonesia. In April 2026, pawnbroking industry loan disbursement reached Rp157.20 trillion, a 56.80 percent year-on-year increase. PT Pegadaian (Persero) accounted for the largest share of this total.
