Jakarta, Kompas.com - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has approved the business merger of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat (BPR) Artha Mlatiindah into PT BPR Artha Mertoyudan.

The approval for this business merger was formalised in the Decree of the OJK Commissioner Board Member No. KEP-25/D.03/2026 dated 13 March 2026.

The decree has been delivered to each BPR at the OJK Yogyakarta Regional Office and the OJK Central Java Regional Office.

The Head of the OJK Central Java Regional Office, Hidayat Prabowo, stated that this business consolidation is expected to strengthen the institutional capacity and performance of BPR Artha Mertoyudan, including expanding service reach, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing governance.

Hidayat emphasised that BPR consolidation is a strategic step to bolster institutional resilience and support the increased role of BPRs in serving the public and financing productive sectors.

“With a stronger capital structure and better institutional capacity, BPRs are expected to enhance service quality to the community and expand their contribution to supporting SME financing and the regional economy,” he said.

He explained that the merger of these two BPRs is an implementation of Law No. 4 of 2023 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (UU P2SK).

The consolidation aims to make the BPR industry stronger, healthier, and more competitive, enabling it to provide greater contributions to SME financing and regional and national economic growth.

To this end, OJK continues to encourage BPR consolidation to strengthen capitalisation and realise a healthier, more efficient, and competitive BPR industry.

Nevertheless, OJK will conduct supervision and guidance regarding the post-merger integration process to ensure all stages proceed in accordance with applicable regulations, while prioritising prudence and consumer protection principles.
