OJK and Police Secure Suspect in Malang Bank Fraud Case

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) have successfully secured a suspect in a case of alleged banking criminal activity at PT BPR DCN in Malang, East Java, after the individual failed to comply with a summons from OJK investigators. The apprehension was carried out through a joint team comprising OJK investigators, the Bareskrim Polri PPNS supervisory team, and the East Java Regional Police’s Cyber Crime Directorate on 9-10 March 2026. Based on monitoring, the suspect, who was scheduled to appear for examination in Surabaya, was detected heading towards Jakarta. Upon arrival at Gambir Station in Jakarta, the suspect was immediately secured by the Bareskrim Polri PPNS supervisory team and transported back to Surabaya for questioning by OJK investigators. Following the examination, the suspect was detained at the East Java Regional Police headquarters in accordance with applicable regulations. In addition to the suspect, the joint team also took steps to bring in a witness who had not complied with the examination summons as part of the investigation process. This measure is part of law enforcement efforts through coordination between OJK investigators and the Indonesian National Police. The execution of coercive measures by the Bareskrim Polri PPNS supervisory team at the request of OJK investigators represents the implementation of prevailing legal regulations, while also reflecting strengthened coordination between institutions to support investigations into criminal acts in the financial services sector. OJK expresses appreciation for the support and cooperation from the Indonesian National Police, particularly the Bareskrim Polri PPNS supervisory team and the East Java Regional Police’s Cyber Crime Directorate, in the activities to apprehend and detain the suspect.
