OJI against manpower firms

MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: Chairman of the Organization of
Islamic Jihad (OJI) in the province, Muhammad Nasir, has called
on Governor Harun Al Rasyid to ban the activities of local
business representing labor supplying firms (Perwada PJTKI).

Nasir said here on Thursday that Perwada PJTKI had caused
problems in the province.

"Many firms were closed down soon after collecting money from
prospective workers," he said.

He cited the alleged case of fraud involving the chairman of
the provincial Indonesian Workers Association (Atkindo), HL
Masrun.

Masrun has allegedly misappropriated a large sum of money
collected from 400 job seekers whom he promised employment on the
JM Mariend cruise ship in the U.S..

"The banning of Perwada PJTKI will be in line with the
regional autonomy law," Nasir added.

Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Jacob Nuwa Wea has
previously suggested that Perwada be disbanded. --Antara
