Ojek Online App Fee Cap of 8% Officially Effective 1 July 2026

GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) and Grab Indonesia will begin reducing their app commission fees to a maximum of 8% for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers. The regulation will take effect on 1 July 2026.

“Starting effectively from 1 July 2026, GoTo Gojek Indonesia will begin implementing an 8% commission for two-wheeled passenger transport services, which at Gojek we commonly call GoRide,” said GoTo Deputy CEO Catherine Sutjahyo during a press conference at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.

She stated that the implementation follows the directive conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto on 1 May 2026 regarding ojol drivers. The company is committed to continuously improving the welfare of its drivers or partners.

Meanwhile, Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi said Grab will implement the same policy by applying an 8% commission, also effective from 1 July 2026.

Wakil Ketua DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad noted that the commission policy has long been awaited by ojol drivers. “We have held discussions together with Mr Cucun regarding the imposition of tariffs or commissions for two-wheeled online transport,” Dasco said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto had requested that the fee deducted by ojol app companies be below 10%. The Head of State expressed disagreement with deductions reaching 20%, deeming it unfair given the drivers’ hard work on the ground. This was conveyed during the International Labour Day or May Day 2026 commemoration at the National Monument (Monas) on Friday, 1 May 2026.

“Ojol drivers work hard, risking their lives every day. The app companies ask for a 20% cut. How can ojol drivers agree to 20%? How about 15%? 10%? I say here I do not agree with 10%,” Prabowo asserted. “It must be below 10%. It’s not fair, you sit comfortably while they sweat. Sorry, if you don’t want to follow this, don’t do business in Indonesia,” he added.
