Pandeglang District Court held the first hearing of a lawsuit filed by ojek driver Al Amin against Pandeglang Regency and Banten Province. The lawsuit proceeded to mediation.

The initial hearing was held at Pandeglang District Court on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. Al Amin attended with his legal representative, whilst the defendants were represented by the legal bureaus of Banten Province and Pandeglang Regency.

“Today’s hearing was attended by all plaintiffs and defendants; everyone was present,” said Iskandar Zulkarnain, spokesperson for Pandeglang District Court.

The panel of judges reviewed the lawsuit documents and verified the identity of both parties. Zulkarnain stated that the hearing proceeded to a mediation process.

“A mediation process was conducted, and the panel of judges is now awaiting the results of mediation,” he said.

Al Amin’s legal representative, Ayi Erlangga, stated that the lawsuit represents his client’s concern as a citizen seeking improved road infrastructure. He said Al Amin had suffered damages due to poor road conditions.

“As a citizen, and first and foremost out of respect for his leaders, this is his way of reminding his leaders about public services that remain suboptimal to this day,” he said.

Al Amin is an ojek driver who became a victim of a traffic accident caused by damaged roads in Pandeglang Regency, Banten. A passenger in his vehicle died in the accident, and Amin was initially reported to police by the parents of the deceased child. The case was discontinued following a restorative justice process.

“Mr Amin has filed his lawsuit at Pandeglang District Court, seeking compensation as he became a victim of the accident,” said Al Amin’s legal representative Raden Elang Mulyana at Pandeglang District Court on Wednesday, 25 February.

Mulyana stated that the lawsuit seeks Rp 100 billion in compensation from the government. He said the funds would be used to repair damaged roads in Banten.
