Ojek Driver Lured with Rp 600,000 Offline Order, Motorcycle Stolen

An online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver, Sutrisno, had his motorcycle stolen by a perpetrator identified as WS. The suspect lured him with a promise of Rp 600,000 before stealing the bike.

Sutrisno recounted that the incident began on Thursday (18/6) while he was waiting for orders at Tambun Station, Bekasi. The suspect approached him and requested a ride to Muara Baru Port, proposing an offline transaction without using the application.

“I was tempted by the money the perpetrator offered, so I agreed to take him to North Jakarta, only for my motorcycle to be stolen,” the victim, Sutrisno, said in Jakarta.

Sutrisno admitted he was enticed by the Rp 600,000 payment. He said he had only received two orders that day. “I had only got two orders that day and he came offering a large sum. I was tempted,” he said.

He explained that the perpetrator promised to pay after meeting his boss at the port. The suspect claimed his boss was a Chinese national who owned ten ships. “I was promised money and also two mobile phones. I had just repaired my damaged phone and this strengthened my resolve to take the perpetrator,” he said.

The victim then drove the perpetrator to the Muara Baru Port area. Upon arrival, the suspect asked the victim to sit and have coffee while he went to the dock to observe fish loading and unloading. “The perpetrator then returned and asked to be taken to his relative’s workplace at the Tanjung Priok Port Customs Office,” he said.

Additionally, the suspect asked the victim to store his bag and jacket in the motorcycle seat compartment. The suspect also offered to take turns riding the motorcycle to Tanjung Priok Port. In front of the Port Health Office, the suspect asked the victim to dismount, claiming he wanted to pick up a friend. Feeling confident, the victim got off the motorcycle and the suspect immediately drove it away. “The licence plate and mirrors were discarded. My wallet containing the vehicle registration and driving licence was also thrown away by the perpetrator,” he said.

Earlier, the Tanjung Priok Port Police arrested WS two hours after the crime was committed in front of the Port Health Office on Jalan Pelabuhan Nusantara II, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6). “The perpetrator WS was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Port Police in the Pademangan area, North Jakarta,” said Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief AKBP Aris Wibowo in Jakarta on Monday.

According to him, officers found the victim after he was abandoned by the perpetrator and asked him to file a report. Subsequently, the Tanjung Priok Port Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted an investigation and analysis to track down the perpetrator. Officers arrested the suspect and recovered the victim’s motorcycle, which had its licence plate removed and its documents discarded. “The perpetrator has been taken to the Tanjung Priok Port Police headquarters for further examination,” he said.
