Oil symposium today

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Oil Engineers Association will hold a symposium on the growth of the national oil and gas industry for three days starting today.

Association president Sungarna Sukandar said yesterday that about 600 people, including oil executives and governmental officials, would attend the symposium at the Sahid Jaya Hotel in Jakarta.

The symposium will discuss, among others, the latest technology applied in oil and gas sector.

On the last day of the symposium, the association's members will elect their new leaders for the period of 1997 to 2000, Sungarna said.

To coincide with the symposium, the association will also hold an exhibition on the oil industry and its technology, involving oil industries and universities at the hotel. (jsk)
