Oil Prices Surge; Bahlil Assures No Rise in Petrol and Diesel Prices Until Eid
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has affirmed that subsidised fuel prices will not increase at least until Eid al-Fitr. This assurance came following a spike in global crude oil prices.
“I assure the public there is no need for concern regarding prices, because until Eid al-Fitr, God willing, there will be no increase in subsidised fuel prices,” Bahlil stated when met at the Energy Ministry’s offices in Jakarta on Monday, 9 March 2026.
The statement responds to rising oil prices that have reached US$110 per barrel. Current subsidised fuel prices stand at Rp 10,000 per litre for Pertalite petrol and Rp 6,800 per litre for Biosolar diesel.
Bahlil also guaranteed that the nation’s fuel supply remains secure through Eid al-Fitr. He stated that the government is preparing various measures to mitigate the impact of rising global crude oil prices.
“Supply is not a problem. For Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, everything is guaranteed, there is no issue,” Bahlil clarified.
“The issue now is just the price. We are exercising to implement comprehensive measures,” he added.
