Penajam Paser Utara - The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) states that the legislative and judicial zones will be a priority for the development of the Indonesian capital, the new state capital located in parts of Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, in 2026. “The development of the legislative and judicial zones is one of the priorities this year,” said OIKN Head Basuki Hadimuljono when asked about the continuation of the new capital city’s construction in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, on Thursday. The construction of legislative and judicial office buildings along with supporting facilities and infrastructure, he continued, as well as the development of the social superhub economy and environmental management of the Nusantara Capital, will be priorities in 2026. The OIKN is also continuously preparing various supporting facilities, including housing and basic infrastructure in the Nusantara Capital, in preparation for the gradual relocation of civil servants (ASN) from Jakarta to the new Indonesian capital in parts of East Kalimantan Province. “Activities in 2026 will also focus on planning the development of zones and ASN development,” he said. “The ASN relocation target is not just for this year, but will proceed gradually until 2028,” he added. The central government targets an increasing number of ASN to be relocated to the Nusantara Capital, estimated to reach around 4,000 ASN by 2028. To date, the number of ASN serving in the new Indonesian capital is recorded at 2,000 people, he explained, comprising 1,100 OIKN ASN and 900 from the Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Transportation. The central government aims for the ASN relocation process to the new Indonesian capital to continue, as one of the efforts to accelerate the functioning of the Nusantara Capital, built in parts of East Kalimantan Province, as Indonesia’s new government centre, according to Basuki Hadimuljono.
