OIKN Head Ensures Vice President Gibran Can Office in IKN: I Hope It Happens

The Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, has revealed that Vice President Gibran Rakabuming can already start working in IKN from this year. The building and supporting facilities for the Vice President’s daily activities have been completed. According to him, various preparations have also been carried out by Vice President Gibran’s staff. Thus, it is hoped that it can be realised soon. “This year it can happen because the building is already finished, yes, and the temporary furniture is also ready,” Basuki said when met after a meeting with Commission II of the House of Representatives at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, 30 March 2026. “There are some (Vice President’s staff) there,” he added. Basuki hopes that the plan for the Vice President to work in IKN can be realised soon. “As for me, my house is now there, yes. So I hope it happens, that he will really work there. That’s my hope,” he said. Initially, in that meeting, Commission II DPR RI member Deddy Sitorus mentioned the idea of the Vice President working in IKN. “I’ve been asking for that for a long time. The Vice President, the Forestry Minister, the Village Minister, the Transmigration Minister should live there. That’s public money,” he said. Deddy made that statement while emphasising the importance of utilising the buildings that have been constructed in IKN. He also asked OIKN Head Basuki to discuss this with President Prabowo Subianto. “How do we utilise that, Mr (Basuki)? Please discuss with Mr President and the ministers involved so we can utilise it, Mr. It would be unfair to the people if the buildings stand unused, wasting money on maintenance,” he said. In that meeting, Basuki, among other things, explained OIKN’s priority activities and budget for this year. In his presentation, Basuki said one of their priority activities is related to area development, including spatial planning for the Core Government Centre Area (KIPP) as well as the construction of legislative and judicial offices.
