The Ramadan Safari is being carried out in four districts as an effort to strengthen social communication, foster togetherness, and create a harmonious atmosphere in the community during Ramadan, said Alimuddin, Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment of the IKN Authority (OIKN), in Nusantara, on Saturday.

The four districts that form the delineation of the IKN were previously part of the Kutai Kartanegara Regency, namely Samboja, Muara Jawa, Loa Janan, and Samboja Barat.

During the event, Ramadan Safari was used as an opportunity to engage directly with the community to discuss their various hopes after their areas were delineated into the IKN region.

In Muara Jawa, the dialogue, conducted in a relaxed manner, became a forum for residents to express aspirations, while also obtaining information on the current development of the IKN and future plans.

Most residents expressed hopes for improved welfare and progress in the region after joining the IKN area, particularly regarding the enhancement of basic services.

For example, the need for access to clean water for an area inhabited by around 40,000 people, even though it is not far from the Mahakam River, said Alimuddin, who is also the former head of the Penajam Paser Utara Regency Education Department.

In addition, residents also hope for the establishment of a university in their area; there is currently an effort to provide land to support such educational facilities.

Other aspirations include the expectation of a toll gate in Muara Jawa to improve connectivity and facilitate mobility for residents who want to reach the IKN, Balikpapan, and Samarinda.

Camat Muara Jawa Muhammad Ramli also expressed appreciation. He regards the activity as a silaturahim space that strengthens the relationship between government and the community.

“Thank you to the OIKN Authority staff who organised the Ramadan Safari in Muara Jawa. This activity makes the community feel noticed and involved in ongoing development and future plans,” Ramli said.
