OIC Reaffirms Support for UN Strategy to Combat Terrorism

New York (ANTARA) - The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, as well as its support for the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy as the primary framework for international cooperation in this field.

The OIC emphasised the importance of ensuring that this strategy remains balanced and reflects the priorities of the countries most impacted by terrorism.

This position was conveyed in a statement by Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the UN, Abdulaziz Alwasil, on behalf of the OIC, during a plenary session of the UN General Assembly for the adoption of the Ninth Review of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy 2026.

The OIC reaffirmed its firm rejection of any attempt to link terrorism to any religion, ethnicity, or culture.

The OIC also emphasised the importance of strengthening international cooperation to address the evolving threats of terrorism, in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
