OIC Reaffirms Support for UN Strategy to Combat Terrorism
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has reaffirmed its firm commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, as well as its support for the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy as the primary framework for international cooperation in this field. The OIC stressed the importance of the strategy remaining balanced and reflecting the priorities of the countries most affected by terrorism. The statement was delivered by Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the UN, Abdulaziz Alwasil, on behalf of the OIC, during the UN General Assembly plenary session to adopt the Ninth Review of the 2026 Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. The OIC reiterated its categorical rejection of linking terrorism to any religion, ethnicity, or culture. The OIC also emphasised the importance of strengthening international cooperation to confront the evolving threat of terrorism, in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
