OIC may take Misuari: RP

PHILIPPINES: The Philippines may allow the Organisation of
Islamic Conference (OIC) to take custody of a renegade Moro
leader detained in Malaysia and facing rebellion charges in the
country, officials said on Monday.

Norberto Gonzales, a senior aide of President Gloria Macapagal
Arroyo, said the proposal by the leader of the country's largest
Moro separatist rebel group to allow the OIC to take custody of
Nur Misuari was worth considering.

Salamat Hashim, chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front
(MILF), has written to OIC Secretary General Abdelouabed Belkeziz
earlier in the month to ask the body to take custody of Misuari.

Gonzales said the option may be discussed during the visit of
Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda to Manila later in
