Ogan Ilir Police and Joint Task Force Mitigate Forest and Land Fires at Six Locations
Ogan Ilir Police Chief, AKBP Rizka Aprianti, personally led mitigation and patrol activities at several hotspot locations. The forest and land fire (Karhutla) suppression efforts were carried out across the Ogan Ilir Regency on Saturday. This mitigation effort was attended by various local police chiefs as a form of direct field supervision. The operation involved personnel from the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Ogan Ilir Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the South Sumatra Provincial BPBD. The Manggala Agni team, along with other relevant agencies, also participated in the field operation, demonstrating inter-agency synergy in strengthening forest fire prevention efforts.
At least six locations were the primary targets of this mitigation activity. These areas include Embacang Village and Talang Tengah Laut Village in the Lubuk Keliat District, as well as Kelampadu Village in the Muara Kuang District. Other targeted areas were Kelampaian Village in the Rantau Alai District, Ibul Besar I Village in the South Pemulutan District, and Palemraya Village in the North Indralaya District.
During the implementation, the joint team faced several obstacles, such as hotspots located in swampy areas and a lack of road access. Some points were difficult to reach due to being separated by the Opson River and hindered by a lack of communication networks. Nevertheless, personnel continued to coordinate with residents and monitor fire conditions to ensure the situation remained under control.
The joint team ultimately succeeded in extinguishing the fires using available equipment, thanks to the support of cross-agency personnel. All fire points were successfully extinguished based on the monitoring results of officers on the ground. Officers continue to conduct monitoring at the locations to anticipate the re-emergence of fire points from residual smoke.
Ogan Ilir Police Chief, AKBP Rizka Aprianti, expressed her appreciation to all personnel who worked tirelessly. “I would like to express my highest gratitude and appreciation to all personnel from the Police, TNI, BPBD, Manggala Agni, all local police chiefs, and all related elements who have shown extraordinary dedication, spirit, and cooperation in the field. Thanks to the synergy of all parties, the fire points could be controlled immediately so that they did not spread and the situation remained conducive,” the Police Chief stated in a written statement on Sunday (2/8/2026).
In addition to praising the hard work of the officers, she also issued a firm appeal to local residents. She requested public awareness to avoid any actions that could trigger land fires. “We invite the entire community to work together to prevent forest and land fires. Do not clear land by burning, because besides being illegal, it can also endanger public health, damage the environment, and cause significant losses. If you find a fire point, report it immediately to the authorities or relevant agencies so that handling can be carried out promptly,” the Police Chief emphasised.
Through these mitigation activities, the Ogan Ilir Police are committed to continuously increasing patrols and early detection of forest and land fires. Rapid response to every incident will also be optimised alongside relevant agencies. This step aims to realise an Ogan Ilir Regency that is safe and free from land fire disasters.
