Officials must not indulge in theories
Officials must not indulge in theories
From Kompas
As fuel supplies have become increasingly critical in this
country the authorities concerned need to take quick decisions to
get the crisis under control. In other words, we should not have
to be dependent on other countries, and the crisis should not
necessarily add to the sufferings of low-income people.
Therefore we call on the executive, legislative and judicial
officials to set a concrete example to the community by using
official vehicles that are inexpensive and fuel efficient.
Why should they use cars of 2,000 cc that are wasteful of
fuel, only to maintain prestige? Alternatively, they could use
less elegant vehicles of 1,000 cc or 1,500 cc, at the same time
retaining their authority.
This will significantly reduce the financial burden on the
state and the officials should do the right thing if they want to
be true to their ideals, and not just indulge in debating and
theoretical arguments.
