Officials Implement Open-Close System at Ajyad Terminal to Ensure Hajj Pilgrims' Safety
Makkah (ANTARA) - Saudi Arabian Hajj Organising Officials (PPIH) have emphasised that the implementation of an open-close door system at Ajyad Terminal in Makkah is a strategic measure to ensure the safety and comfort of Indonesian prospective Hajj pilgrims.
The Head of Transportation for PPIH Saudi Daker Makkah, Syarif Rahman, stated that the policy was adopted based on evaluations from previous Hajj seasons to create a more orderly and measured flow of pilgrim movements.
“Currently, Ajyad Terminal is equipped with dedicated pedestrian corridors and boundary fences. This open-close system ensures that pilgrims do not crowd together and are protected from accident risks when boarding Shalawat buses,” said Syarif in Makkah on Sunday.
He explained that on-site officials arrange bus fleets according to route numbers before allowing pilgrims to enter in turns.
Once the bus capacity is full, the terminal doors are temporarily closed to provide space for organising the next fleet, thereby maintaining security in the pick-up area.
The effectiveness of the system has been proven to quickly alleviate congestion. Based on monitoring by the Hajj Media Centre (MCH) after Isha prayers, all queues of prospective Hajj pilgrims were transported in less than one hour.
Syarif also urged kloter leaders and groups to continue educating prospective Hajj pilgrims to remain calm while queuing during peak hours, such as after obligatory prayers.
As an effort to improve services going forward, PPIH Saudi Arabia will continue coordinating with various parties to regulate the pattern of pilgrims’ return from Masjidil Haram and strive to add terminal exit access to smooth transportation flow to hotels.
