Officials destroy jackpot machines

TANGERANG (JP): The prosecutor's office in Tangerang destroyed 26 jackpot machines and 742 counterfeit bills, mostly Rp 10,000 notes, on Monday, an official said.

"The elimination of the goods was done legally," Pudji Basuki, the head of the general crime unit at the prosecutor's office, said without giving details.

The 26 machines were confiscated from Amsir bin Nadi, Sabar Sirait and David Hendra, who illegally operated them in the areas of Cikupa and Kotabumi here.

Pudji said that his office had also handed over four firearms, two of which were illegally owned by Sataf bin Jakri, while the other two were illegally owned by Nuri Samsudin and Yosep Abdullah respectively.

Yosep's firearm was confiscated at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport when he was caught attempting to smuggle the gun into Indonesia, while the other three firearms were seized when their owners were arrested for committing various crimes. (41/ivy)
