Noteworthy aspects of President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the Elysee Palace in Paris, France, on Thursday, 28 May 2026, evening WIB, included the Indonesian delegation accompanying him during meetings with President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu.

Prabowo did not bring many officials to France on this visit. The delegation included Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Professor Brian Yuliarto, Investment Minister and Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wiiava, Indonesian Ambassador to France Mohamad Oemar, and Republikorp founder Norman Joesoef. Also present was President Prabowo’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo.

During the visit, Prabowo was greeted with a military ceremony before the official state meeting. En route to the Elysee Palace from Les Invalides, he stood in an Acmat command vehicle accompanied by Prime Minister Lecornu.

Prabowo received an honour guard of 27 motorcycle officers and 146 cavalry troops from the French Armed Forces. This state honour, extended by the French government to a friendly head of state, symbolises the strong friendship between Indonesia and France.

Upon arrival at the Elysee Palace grounds, President Prabowo was greeted by a guard of honour accompanied by military music as part of the state welcome ceremony. He was then received by President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron at the main staircase of the palace.

Before the official meeting, Prabowo and Macron held a joint press conference. Following bilateral talks between the delegations, they will hold a private meeting to discuss strengthening strategic cooperation between Indonesia and France across various sectors.

“Today, I believe we will discuss several important issues, including defence cooperation, clean energy, education, research, and the implementation of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA),” Prabowo said in the joint press conference.

President Macron reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to strengthening strategic relations into a broader and deeper global partnership amid global geopolitical dynamics. He described Indonesia as a key strategic partner for France in the Indo-Pacific region.

“Indonesia is a key strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific, and I believe this is also part of President Prabowo’s conviction,” Macron said.
