Officially Open: KLH/BPLH Unites Technology and Cross-Generational Collaboration at INVIROTECH 2026

The Ministry of Environment/Bureau of Environmental Control (KLH/BPLH) has officially opened the Indonesia International Environment Technology and Innovation Expo and Conference (INVIROTECH) 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Jakarta. The event, running from 11–13 June 2026, is part of the commemoration of World Environment Day 2026 and serves as a collaborative platform for the government, business sector, academia, researchers, innovators, environmental communities, and young people to accelerate real action in addressing the environmental crisis and climate change.

The KLH/BPLH explained that the national theme for World Environment Day 2026 evolved from the spirit of ‘Time to Work for the Climate’ to ‘Time to Work for Climate Justice.’ This emphasis positions climate action as an effort that delivers benefits for all people and generations, with the principle of no generation left behind in obtaining the right to a good and healthy environment.

Minister of Environment/Head of BPLH, Moh Jumhur Hidayat, asserted that INVIROTECH 2026 is a manifestation of KLH/BPLH’s consistency in implementing this agenda. Amid various environmental challenges, from water, air, and soil pollution, rising global temperatures, to ecosystem damage, more concrete, collaborative, and measurable steps are required.

‘Protecting the environment and overcoming the climate crisis is no longer a future agenda, but a task that must be performed today. INVIROTECH exists to bring together innovation, technology, investment, and real action in answering various environmental issues,’ Minister Jumhur stated before approximately 4,000 participants, including more than 3,000 students representing Generation Z.

Minister Jumhur also affirmed that the policy direction of KLH/BPLH is in line with the Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful Indonesia Movement (ASRI), which promotes the development of a culture and civilisation that respects nature and strengthens sustainable development for the community’s welfare. Nature is no longer viewed as a burden and an object, but is prioritised as a consideration and a subject whose sustainability must be maintained.

Carrying the theme ‘Green Solution Technology for Climate Action’, INVIROTECH 2026 features 99 participants from ministries/institutions, local governments, state-owned enterprises, national and foreign private companies, international organisations, communities, startups, and universities, showcasing various innovations in the fields of waste management, water and air pollution control, waste-to-energy, renewable energy, water and soil conservation, environmental quality monitoring, environmental digitalisation, and technologies supporting low-carbon development.

Deputy for Pollution Control and Environmental Damage at KLH/BPLH and Chair of the INVIROTECH 2026 Organising Committee, Rasio Ridho Sani, said the theme this year was chosen to emphasise the importance of applying green technology and innovation to support climate action and sustainable development.

‘INVIROTECH 2026 is not only a venue to showcase environmental technology and innovation, but also a means to accelerate the replication of good practices, expand cooperation networks, and encourage green investment that supports pollution control, environmental damage control, and sustainable development,’ said Rasio.

In addition to the environmental technology exhibition, INVIROTECH 2026 also hosts discussion forums, seminars, workshops, coaching clinics, seller meet buyers, business matching, competitions, and various public education activities. Through these activities, KLH/BPLH encourages the wider adoption of green technology while strengthening multi-party collaboration in supporting the agenda of pollution and environmental damage control.

Minister Jumhur also called on all elements of the nation to build environmental ethics through the spirit of ecological repentance, namely, the awareness to restore a damaged and polluted environment and to change mindsets and behaviour towards nature.

This value was reflected in the presentation of the Kalpataru Award to 16 environmental champions from various regions in Indonesia, as well as a Lifetime Achievement award to Prof. Emil Salim, a figure who laid the foundation for environmental thought and policy in Indonesia. The awards serve as an important symbol that the environmental struggle must be continuously passed on, strengthened, and continued across generations.

Through INVIROTECH 2026, KLH/BPLH hopes that more innovations, partnerships, green investments, and real actions will emerge to accelerate the realisation of a Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful (ASRI) Indonesia, while strengthening efforts to achieve climate justice for all people and generations.
