Officially Exempted: This is the Calculation of Annual Electric Vehicle Tax Costs in Jakarta
JAKARTA - Owners of electric vehicles in DKI Jakarta can still breathe a sigh of relief. This is because in 2026, the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) component will certainly remain exempted, making the annual cost burden much lighter compared to conventional vehicles.
This certainty follows the central government’s directive for regions to continue providing fiscal incentives for battery-based electric vehicles, as stated in the Ministry of Home Affairs Circular Number 900.1.13.1/3764/SJ.
“Following the issuance of the Ministry of Home Affairs Circular regarding the exemption of PKB and BBNKB for battery-based electric motor vehicles, the policy of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is in line with those provisions, namely continuing to provide incentives in the form of PKB and BBNKB exemptions for battery-based electric vehicles,” said the Head of the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of DKI Jakarta, Lusiana Herawati, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
This is as stipulated in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation Number 2 of 2015 concerning Amendments to Provincial Regulation Number 8 of 2010 on Motor Vehicle Tax.
The current SWDKLLJ value is Rp 143,000. This means the total annual cost is practically just that amount, as PKB is not levied.
The situation differs during five-year renewals due to additional administrative costs in the form of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) for issuing new STNK and licence plates.
The amount for STNK issuance itself is Rp 200,000 and Rp 100,000 for the vehicle number plate.
The regional government is also still exempting Motor Vehicle Name Transfer Duty (BBNKB), as part of efforts to accelerate the adoption of low-emission vehicles in the capital.
