The Head of the National Narcotics Board (BNN), Komjen Suyudi Ario Seto, underwent a fit and proper test as the sole candidate for the new National Police Chief at Commission III of the DPR on Thursday (1/10).

The Speaker of the House, Puan Maharani, stated that Suyudi is the only name submitted by President Prabowo Subianto via Presidential Letter Number R57/Pres/09/2026, dated 30 September 2026. “From the proposed names, there is usually only one candidate,” said Puan following the plenary session approving Suyudi.

The fit and proper test for Suyudi was conducted briefly, lasting approximately 30 minutes. Following his approval in Commission III, Suyudi’s name was immediately brought to the plenary session for formal ratification.

Suyudi is expected to be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto in conjunction with the announcement of a cabinet reshuffle at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta this afternoon.

During the fit and proper test, Suyudi stated that if entrusted with the role of National Police Chief, he would continue institutional improvements by clearly identifying existing institutional weaknesses while maintaining and expanding upon the achievements of his predecessors.

He emphasised that the theme ‘Police Together with the Community’ serves as the doctrine and direction for the Indonesian National Police’s transformation, placing the public at the centre of policing duties. “The theme I am carrying is Police Together with the Community, as a leadership doctrine and a direction for transformation that places the community as the central orientation of police tasks,” he said.
