Officially Appointed as Head of Bakom, A Peek at Muhammad Qodari's Wealth: Owns 176 Property Assets
President Prabowo Subianto has officially appointed Muhammad Qodari as the Head of the Indonesian Government’s Communication Agency (Bakom). The inauguration took place at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, 27 April 2026, replacing Angga Raka Prabowo.
This appointment is outlined in Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 52/P of 2026 regarding the dismissal and appointment of the Chief of Presidential Staff and the Head of Bakom. During the ceremony, the President directly led the oath-taking.
“That I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out all laws and regulations as straightforwardly as possible for the sake of my dharma service to the nation and state,” stated the President, followed by Qodari.
After the oath, Qodari signed the inauguration minutes in the presence of the President. With his new position, he will undertake strategic duties in coordinating government policy communications to handling crisis communications.
Before being entrusted to lead Bakom, Qodari served as Chief of Presidential Staff. This position is now filled by Dudung Abdurachman, who previously served as Special Advisor to the President for National Defence.
Born in Palembang on 15 October 1973, Qodari is known as a political analyst with a strong academic background. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Indonesia in the Faculty of Psychology, then pursued a master’s degree at the University of Essex, England, focusing on political behaviour.
He earned his doctorate from Gadjah Mada University in 2016, with a dissertation exploring the phenomenon of split-ticket voting in Indonesian elections.
Wealth Totals Rp261 Billion
Behind his new position, Qodari’s wealth has also come under scrutiny. Based on the State Organiser’s Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted on 19 January 2025 at the start of his tenure as Deputy Chief of Presidential Staff, his total wealth reaches Rp261.93 billion after deducting debts.
The total reported assets amount to Rp264.79 billion, detailed as follows:
Land and buildings: Rp182.79 billion
Transportation equipment and machinery: Rp933 million
Other movable assets: Rp9.86 billion
Securities: Rp475 million
Cash and cash equivalents: Rp70.71 billion
Other assets: Rp11.1 million
Meanwhile, the total recorded debt is Rp2.85 billion.
