Official Visit to Japan: Prabowo to Meet Emperor Naruhito

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto departed for Japan on an official visit on Sunday, 29 March 2026. This visit forms part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Japan.

The Head of State, accompanied by a limited entourage, took off from TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta at approximately 10:35 WIB. President Prabowo’s departure was seen off by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Chief General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that during the official visit, President Prabowo is scheduled to undertake several important agendas.

“One of them is that President Prabowo will make a state call on Japanese Emperor Naruhito,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy in his statement on Sunday, 29 March 2026.

In addition, President Prabowo is also scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, which will take place at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo.

This meeting is expected to serve as a strategic momentum to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

“There are several areas of cooperation in investment, energy, maritime, and digital sectors,” explained Cabinet Secretary Teddy.

“After completing the series of visits in Japan, President Prabowo and his entourage are scheduled to continue their journey to the Republic of Korea for the next visit,” revealed Cabinet Secretary Teddy.

This series of trips is part of Indonesia’s active diplomacy in strengthening its strategic position in the East Asia region. Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to Japan are Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
