Official Traffic Management Scheme for Eid Holiday Travel Announced, Mark One-Way and Contra Flow Dates

The Indonesian Government has prepared a traffic management scheme for the 2026 Eid holiday exodus. This arrangement aims to ensure smooth traffic flow during the peak travel period.

The scheme is outlined in a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) on Road Traffic Management and Crossings during the Eid holiday exodus and return period for 2026/1447 Hijriah, agreed upon by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Ministry of Public Works (PU), and the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri). The regulations are set out in SKB Numbers: KP-DRJD 854 Year 2026, HK.201/1/21/DJPL/2026, Kep/43/II/2026, and 20/KPTS/Db/2026.

“This is in order to guarantee safety, security, order, and smooth traffic flow, road transport and crossings, as well as to optimise the use and movement of traffic on national road sections during the 2026 exodus and return period,” according to the decree issued on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The following traffic management provisions apply during the 2026 Eid holiday break:

  1. One-way system (one way)

Outbound travel

Applies to the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road section from KM 70 to Semarang-Solo KM 421, from Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at 12:00 WIB until Friday, 20 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB.

Return travel

Applies to the Semarang-Solo toll road section from KM 421 to Jakarta-Cikampek KM 70, from Monday, 23 March 2026 at 12:00 WIB to Sunday, 29 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB.

  1. Contra flow system

The implementation of tidal flow lane/lane systems (contra flow) applies to the Jakarta-Cikampek and Jakarta-Bogor-Ciawi (Jagorawi) toll road sections, with the following provisions:

Outbound travel

Applies to the Jakarta-Cikampek toll section from KM 47 (West Karawang) to KM 70 (Cikampek) during two periods, with the following provisions:

First period: Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at 14:00 WIB to Friday, 20 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB.

Second period: Saturday, 21 March 2026 from 12:00-20:00 WIB and Sunday, 22 March 2026 from 09:00-18:00 WIB.

Return travel

Applies to:

  • Jakarta-Cikampek toll road section from KM 70 to KM 47 on Monday, 23 March 2026 at 14:00 WIB to Sunday 29 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB

  • Jagorawi toll road section from KM 21 (Gunung Putri) to KM 8 (Cipayung), on Tuesday, 24 March 2026 from 14:00-19:00 WIB and Sunday 29 March 2026 from 14:00-19:00 WIB.

  1. Odd-even system

Outbound travel

Applies to the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road section from KM 47 to Semarang-Batang KM 414 and Tangerang-Merak toll road from KM 31 to KM 98, from Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at 14:00 WIB to Friday, 20 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB.

Return travel

Applies to the Semarang-Batang toll road section from KM 414 to Jakarta-Cikampek KM 47 and Tangerang-Merak toll road from KM 98 to KM 31, from Monday, 23 March 2026 at 00:00 WIB to Sunday 29 March 2026 at 24:00 WIB.

“The odd-even system provisions are exempted for a number of vehicles, including fire engines, ambulances, public transport vehicles with yellow plates, vehicles with special markings carrying persons with disabilities, and operational vehicles of toll road management companies,” according to the decree.

  1. Freight transport operational restrictions

Operational restrictions on freight transport apply to trucks with three or more axles; trucks with trailers; trucks with semi-trailers; and all trucks used for transporting excavated materials (soil, sand, and stone), mining products, and building materials.

Freight transport operational restrictions are applied to a number of toll and non-toll road sections in both directions from Friday, 13 March 2026 at 12:00 local time until Sunday 29 March 2026 at 24:00 local time.

The following toll road sections are subject to restrictions as detailed in the decree.
