Official sounds alarm on illegal medicines

JAMBI: Dozens of illegal medicines from China have been sold openly in Jambi province over the last several weeks, a government official said on Friday.

Darwin Karim, head of the Jambi Food and Drug Monitoring Agency, said the medicines had been declared illegal because they were not registered with the Ministry of Health.

He said the agency would issue official warnings to drugstores selling the illegal medicines, ordering the medicines to be destroyed. If the warnings are ignored, the agency will bring the drugstores to court. -- JP
