Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed there will be no electricity tariff increase in May 2026, addressing public complaints. ‘To date, we have not implemented any electricity tariff increases. Any future changes will be communicated,’ he said during a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace, as reported on May 25, 2026.

PLN has also urged the public to be cautious about misleading social media information regarding electricity tariff hikes without official notice. In an official Instagram post on May 5, 2026, the company stated that the claims are false. ‘Factually, there is no electricity tariff increase. The government has set the electricity tariff to remain unchanged for the second quarter of 2026, from April to June, as in the previous period,’ PLN said.

PLN reminded the public to access information from official sources, either through the company’s website or social media channels.

The electricity tariff policy is based on Energy and Mineral Resources Ministerial Regulation No. 7 of 2024 concerning PLN-provided electricity tariffs. Adjustments for non-subsidised customers are made quarterly based on macroeconomic parameters such as exchange rates, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and Coal Price Benchmark (HBA).
