PLN has officially announced the electricity tariffs for May 2026. Are there any changes for both subsidised and non-subsidised categories?

It should be noted that changes in electricity tariffs are based on Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 7 of 2024, Article 6 paragraph (2). According to this regulation, electricity tariff adjustments are conducted every three months, taking into account factors affecting the Electricity Generation Cost (BPP), namely the US dollar exchange rate against the rupiah, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and reference coal prices.

This mechanism allows electricity tariffs to rise or fall depending on current economic conditions and global energy prices. So, what about PLN’s electricity tariffs for May 2026? Here is the complete information for non-subsidised and subsidised categories.

Official PLN Electricity Tariffs for May 2026 Do Not Increase

PLN’s electricity tariffs for May 2026 are confirmed to remain unchanged. In a statement on PLN’s official website, the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has set the electricity tariffs for PT PLN (Persero) for the second quarter of 2026 (April-June) to stay the same. This policy is an effort to maintain public purchasing power while supporting national industrial competitiveness.

The May 2026 electricity tariff adjustment still refers to Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 7 of 2024 and the three-monthly evaluation of macroeconomic parameters, such as exchange rates, ICP, inflation, and HBA. This also realises the electricity tariff parameters for the period November 2025 to January 2026.

This unchanged electricity tariff policy for May 2026 applies to both non-subsidised and subsidised customers. Thus, the public need not worry about tariff increases and is encouraged to use electricity efficiently and wisely.
