Official! National Police Chief Establishes IKN Police Precinct, Names First Chief

The Indonesian National Police has officially established a new Polresta (City Police Precinct) to oversee the jurisdiction of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan. The formation is stipulated in the Chief of Police’s Telegram Letter Number ST/1336/VI/KEP./2026, dated 25 June 2026. The position of IKN Police Chief has been entrusted to Adjunct Senior Commissioner Supriyanto, who previously served as Deputy Director of Water and Air Police for the East Kalimantan Regional Police. “A new Polresta has been formed in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) area,” stated the Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police’s Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, on Friday, 26 June 2026. In addition to forming the Polresta in the IKN area, the National Police Chief also established four new Type D Police Stations in North Padang Lawas, Central Sumba, Konawe Islands, and Banggai Laut. Furthermore, eight Type D Police Stations were upgraded to Polresta status, namely in Karawang, Batang, Klaten, Tuban, Sumenep, Gowa, Banggai, and Central Lombok. “The formation and upgrading of these regional units is a strategic step to strengthen police services to the community, while also aligning organisational needs with regional developments and increasingly dynamic public security and order challenges,” he said. The formation of the new Polresta and the status upgrades of several police stations are part of a mutation policy affecting 1,121 National Police personnel, as outlined in seven Chief of Police telegram letters. Of that number, 190 personnel received job promotions as part of organisational refreshment and institutional strengthening. “Through these mutations, it is expected that all personnel entrusted with new positions can quickly adapt, improve performance, and make the best contribution to the organisation and the community,” he added.
