The government of President Prabowo Subianto has decided not to raise fuel (BBM) prices in Indonesia, covering both subsidised and non-subsidised variants, effective from 1 April 2026. This applies not only to PT Pertamina (Persero) petrol stations but also to those operated by private businesses.

Previously, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that his office, along with PT Pertamina (Persero) and private petrol stations, would further discuss fuel prices, particularly non-subsidised ones.

“We convey regarding price adjustments. We convey the President’s directive and the meeting results: there is no upward or downward adjustment for subsidised fuel prices; they remain flat at the current rates,” he said during a press conference some time ago.

“For non-subsidised fuel, we are discussing with the Pertamina team and other private petrol stations until the deadline; when is that? Wait, meaning there is no price adjustment yet; it remains the same,” he emphasised.

“I ask the public to rely on information from the government; otherwise, I urge us to manage information more wisely. The goal is to maintain stability,” he advised.

So, what is the situation on the ground? Are non-subsidised fuel prices at private petrol stations also unchanged as of 1 April 2026, like those at Pertamina stations?

As of Thursday, 2 April 2026, fuel prices at all domestic petrol stations were observed to remain the same as those in effect since the March 2026 period. Typically, changes to non-subsidised fuel prices occur on the 1st of each month.

Based on CNBC Indonesia’s monitoring, at Pertamina stations, for example in the Jakarta and surrounding areas, the price of RON 92 or Pertamax fuel is still listed at Rp 12,300 per litre as of 1 April 2026, the same as in March.

Pertamax Green or RON 95 is priced at Rp 12,900 per litre on 1 April 2026. Pertamax Turbo at Rp 13,100 per litre. Dexlite at Rp 14,200 per litre. And Pertamina Dex at Rp 14,500 per litre.

Meanwhile, subsidised fuel prices for Pertalite and subsidised Solar have remained unchanged since 3 September 2022, at Rp 10,000 and Rp 6,800 per litre, respectively.

For private petrol stations, the applicable prices at BP-AKR and PT Vivo Energy Indonesia stations as of 1 April 2026 are still the same as the previous month’s period. Meanwhile, Shell petrol stations are observed to be empty, not selling fuel.

“Shell fuel products are currently unavailable. We apologise for the inconvenience. We are continuing to coordinate with the government regarding the 2026 fuel import recommendation application in accordance with applicable procedures,” states the note on Shell Indonesia’s official website, quoted on Thursday (16/4/2026).

Based on monitoring, at Vivo and BP-AKR stations in the Ciater area, only RON 92 petrol fuel is sold. Both BP 92 and Revvo 92 are priced at Rp 12,390 per litre, the same as the March 2026 period. Whereas Shell petrol stations are not selling fuel or are out of stock.

Similarly, in the Warung Buncit, Mampang, South Jakarta area, both Vivo and Shell petrol stations are observed not to be selling fuel or are out of stock. Meanwhile, BP petrol stations are only selling BP 92 fuel at Rp 12,390 per litre.
