Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The government of President Prabowo Subianto has decided not to increase the prices of Petroleum Fuel (BBM) in Indonesia, whether subsidised BBM or non-subsidised BBM, as of 1 April 2026. The government has managed to hold prices steady amid the escalation from the Iran-Israel-United States (US) conflict, which has driven global oil prices to soar.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that his office, along with PT Pertamina (Persero) and private petrol stations, will further discuss BBM prices, particularly non-subsidised ones.

“We would like to inform you regarding the price adjustment. We convey the President’s directive and the meeting outcome: there will be no upward or downward adjustment for subsidised BBM prices; they remain flat at the current rates,” he said during a press conference some time ago.

“For non-subsidised BBM, we are discussing with the Pertamina team and other private petrol stations until the time is finalised—what time? Wait, meaning there is no price adjustment yet; it remains the same,” he emphasised.

“I ask the public to rely on information from the government; besides that, I urge us to be smarter in managing information. The goal is to maintain stability,” he advised.

So, what is the situation on the ground? Will non-subsidised BBM prices at private petrol stations also not rise as of 1 April 2026, like at Pertamina stations?

As of Thursday, 2 April 2026, fuel prices at all domestic petrol stations were observed to remain the same as those in effect since the March 2026 period. Typically, changes to non-subsidised BBM prices occur on the 1st of each month.

Based on CNBC Indonesia’s monitoring, at Pertamina stations, for example in the Jakarta and surrounding areas, the price of RON 92 or Pertamax fuel is still listed at Rp 12,300 per litre on 1 April 2026, the same as in March.

Then, Pertamax Green or RON 95 is priced at Rp 12,900 per litre on 1 April 2026. Pertamax Turbo at Rp 13,100 per litre. Dexlite at Rp 14,200 per litre. And Pertamina Dex at Rp 14,500 per litre.

As for subsidised BBM, Pertalite and subsidised Solar prices have remained unchanged since 3 September 2022, at Rp 10,000 and Rp 6,800 per litre, respectively.

For private petrol stations, the applicable prices observed at BP-AKR and PT Vivo Energy Indonesia stations on 1 April 2026 are the same as last month’s period. Meanwhile, Shell stations are observed to be out of stock and not selling BBM.

“Shell petroleum fuel (BBM) products are currently unavailable. We apologise for the inconvenience. We are continuously coordinating with the government regarding the 2026 BBM import recommendation application in accordance with applicable procedures,” reads the statement on the official Shell Indonesia website, quoted on Monday (6/4/2026).

Meanwhile, based on monitoring at Vivo and BP-AKR stations in the Ciater area, only RON 92 petrol type is sold. Both BP 92 and Revvo 92 are priced at Rp 12,390 per litre, the same as the March 2026 period. As for Shell stations, they are not selling BBM or are out of stock.

Similarly, in the Warung Buncit, Mampang, South Jakarta area, both Vivo and Shell stations are observed not to be selling BBM or are out of stock. Meanwhile, BP stations are observed to only sell BP 92 BBM at Rp 12,390 per litre.
