Semarang - Drivers of large vehicles such as trucks and buses must hold a Class B Driver’s Licence (SIM B) as a primary requirement to legally operate on public roads.

AKBP Prianggo Malau, Subdirector of Traffic Registration at the Central Java Police Traffic Directorate, stated that fees for issuing and renewing SIM B in 2026 still follow Government Regulation No. 76 of 2020 regarding the types and tariffs of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) within the Police.

He explained that the official issuance fee for SIM B I and SIM B II is Rp120,000, while the renewal fee for both categories is Rp80,000.

‘The PNBP fees for SIM issuance are in line with PP No. 76 of 2020 and apply nationwide, with no increase as of now,’ he said on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

According to Article 80 of Law No. 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transport (LLAJ), SIM B1 and B2 have different regulations based on vehicle capacity and type.

SIM B1 and B1 Umum are intended for drivers of passenger and cargo vehicles, whether private or commercial, with a vehicle weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes.
