Official Family Transfers Body of Try Sutrisno to State

Jakarta — The official family of former Vice President Try Sutrisno formally transferred his body to the state on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The transfer ceremony took place through a military rite held in the hall of the Grand Mosque of Sunda Kelala in central Jakarta, following the funeral prayer service.

According to observations by Kompas.com, the casket was carried by Try Sutrisno’s son alongside several family members and Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) personnel. The casket was then brought out of the prayer area towards the ceremonial hall.

“The transfer of the body from the family to the government,” explained the ceremony narrator.

Family representatives entered the ceremonial area and approached the Armed Forces Commander, who served as the ceremony’s inspector.

“On behalf of the family, I hereby transfer the body of the late Retired General Try Sutrisno to the government for burial at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta,” stated the family representative.

Subsequently, Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto symbolically received the casket.

“I am General Agus Subiyanto, Armed Forces Commander, and on behalf of the state, I receive the body of the late Retired General Try Sutrisno,” said Agus.

The ceremony commander then reported to Agus that the lying-in-state ceremony was ready to commence.

“Ready, proceed!” responded the commander.

Military personnel then simultaneously fastened their ceremonial sashes. The casket was subsequently carried out of the hall by TNI personnel and transported to its final resting place at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery.
