Official denies Israeli outing

JAKARTA (JP): An official denied yesterday a plan to send an
Indonesian team to the Israel Bridge Festival in Tel Aviv,
scheduled to begin next week.

JA Wowor, chairman of the North Sulawesi Bridge Association,
told Antara yesterday that there was no official request from the
Indonesian Contract Bridge Association in Jakarta to name his
players to the invitational tournament.

"It is just a rumor. I have never received the invitation,"
Wowor said. He added that it would be impossible for his players
to compete in a country which has no diplomatic ties with
Indonesia.

Edward Posumah, chairman of the province's sports governing
body, said last week that Indonesia's best pair of Eddy Manoppo
and Henky Lasut were expected to lead a team of six at the
