Jakarta – The Indonesian Professional Advocates Association (Perhimpunan Advokat Indonesia Profesional, Peradi Profesional) has been officially declared as a new platform for lawyers in the country. The declaration took place on Thursday, 5 March 2026 at the Kempinski Hotel Jakarta, accompanied by a social programme providing donations to 1,250 orphans and the underprivileged. The historic moment also featured a well-known preacher, Ustadz Das’ad Latif. Through Peradi Profesional’s charitable endeavours, orphans and the underprivileged who do not regularly have the opportunity to break their fast at luxury hotels were given a special experience. In its declaration, Harris Arthur Hedar, the Chairman of Peradi Profesional, stressed that the presence of Peradi Profesional is not as a rival organisation to those that already exist, but a concrete answer and preventive measure against the challenges facing the world of advocacy and the Indonesian legal system. “Peradi Profesional or Peradiprof is a professional organisation based on quality, ethics, and character. Peradiprof is not a competitor but appears as an answer to our collective restlessness. We are here to ensure that this profession remains noble, and continues to be an officium nobile, a noble profession,” said Harris. According to Harris, the condition of the legal profession is indeed at a historical crossroads. Public trust has declined because within legal organisations there is fragmentation and a tendency for the profession to degenerate into a tool for short-term interests, thereby diminishing the profession’s prestige. These challenges are made more complex by the dynamics of 21st-century digital transformation which are forcing fundamental changes in Indonesia’s legal system, such as the emergence of digital platforms and technology-based financing systems that create legal relationships outside the conventional Civil Code. “The enactment of the new Penal Code and the new Code of Criminal Procedure also requires the presence of lawyers who are not only technically proficient but also ethically mature and who possess strong social and constitutional responsibilities,” said the Chairman of the Alumni Association of Doctorate in Legal Science (IADIH) at Jayabaya University. The Indonesian Professional Advocates Association has a strong intellectual foundation because it was founded by three advocate-scholars who are also professors in the field of law: Harris Arthur Hedar, Fauzie Yusuf Hasibuan, and Abdul Latif.
