The policy of working from home or WFH for one day per week for Civil Servants (ASN) will apply every Friday. This was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto.

“The implementation of work from home for ASN in central and regional institutions, carried out for one working day per week, namely every Friday,” said Airlangga during a virtual press conference on Tuesday (31/3/2026), quoted from detikNews.

Airlangga stated that this policy only applies to ASN. The policy is also intended to encourage digital-based service governance.

It is known that this one-day-per-week WFH policy is a government step towards fuel efficiency due to the impact of the war in the Middle East.

Last week, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the decision had been set and would soon be communicated to the public.

“It’s set this week,” said Airlangga after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in receiving US businessman Ray Dalio at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Friday (27/3).

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Tito Karnavian said that after the official government announcement, the Home Affairs Ministry would issue directives to regional governments. Tito did not detail the technical directives.

“It’s announced tomorrow (today),” he said when met after a working meeting with Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Monday (30/3).
